Did you know that Decatur Airport is owned and operated by Decatur Park District? That’s right - we are one of five park district-operated airports in the state of Illinois, including Joliet, Vandalia, Canton and Beardstown and the only park district-owned airport served by an air carrier. The Airport encompasses an area of 2200 acres. Pavement surfaces include 5,000,000 sq. ft. of aircraft operations area (runways, taxiways and parking aprons) and 360,000 sq. ft of roads and vehicle parking areas – that’s the equivalent of over 40 miles of two-lane highway! The Airport boasts the fourth longest runway in the state at 8500’ with our two other runways measuring 6800’ and 5300’ in length.
